The Fly, 2014, Olly Williams

The Fly is a dark comedy in which the audience is positioned with the man in the car- his frustration is our frustration. The medium/big close ups of his eyes, his impatient tapping, the buzz of the fly, we feel his agitation through the micro elements. The constant buzz of the fly, diegetic sound, even begins to annoy the audience.
The linear narrative of The Fly begins with it's inciting incident is the fly, actually showing up in the car, kicking off the plot of the short film, and the man's anger. I believe the climax is when the man reaches such a point of fury, that he pulls out a shot gun, and starts firing it at his own vehicle, in an attempt to kill the fly. The resolution comes as a police siren can be heard in the distance, and the robbers come out of the bank.
It is unclear what the representation of The Fly is, perhaps crime, but the comedy genre doesn't seem to fit a heavy, realistic theme such as this. Maybe comedy itself is the representation.
